How do you explain your customers when receive spam from their own domain

Recently some customers has started to receive emails from addresses like
[email protected]

I suppose that I am not the only one,
but how do you explain that to your customers?

You'd be better off solving the problem.

Read /etc/exim.conf.

Look for the line "# require verify = sender"

and uncomment it.

Then restart exim:

# service exim restart

does it on my server; your mileage may vary.

It's not really coming from their own domain yet.

The way we explain it when it comes up is:

Anyone can make an email appear to come from anyone, and some spammers and viruses have figured out how to send emails that look like they come from us, usually in an attempt to get you to open a virus.
