How to link subdomain to 2nd domain?

I need some step-for-step help....

I have 2 domains, logos-vertalingen.nl and chocoladesaus.nl
I want to link chocoladesaus.nl to subdomain blog.logos-vertalingen.nl

In DirectAdmin it seems I can only re-direct to the main domain logos-vertalingen.nl

So... please help!

In Site Redirection you can type in any url you want. I am not sure what page you are looking at where you think you can only use primary domains.

Actually, I noticed this myself tonight. On an account that I control, I had to use a .htaccess file on a subdomain that I wanted to forward to another domain because the Site Redirection page only allows you to setup redirects for the main domain and will not allow you to setup redirects for any of the subdomains. The main domain is hardcoded on that screen. There should be a select box that will allow you to specify whether you want the redirect on the domain or any of the available subdomains. See my attached screenshot.

It sounds like your issue might be different than the one I am encountering. I am trying to redirect a subdomain to a domain and it sounds like you are trying to redirect a domain to a subdomain. That can be done from the Site Redirection page. Login to the account that owns the chocoladesaus.nl domain and go into Site Redirection. Put the following in the fields:

Local URL Path: /
Redirect Type: 301 Permanent
Destination URL: http://blog.logos-vertalingen.nl

With this in place, any requests coming to chocoladesaus.nl would get redirected to blog.logos-vertalingen.nl. Is that what you want?

Site Redirection page only allows you to setup redirects for the main domain

But you can add the subdomain as you would a regular domain and then have all the benefits of a regular domain such as Site Redirection.

That is an option, but not one that I want to use. I don't want to have all the features of a regular domain, such as e-mail and everything else. It would be nice if the Site Redirection page would allow you to setup redirects for subdomains.

The account of the chocoladesaus.nl domain is the same as for the other I have. So when I log in it's on my logos-vertalingen.nl (I bougt this one first)
I can't seem to change the 'current domain' to chocoladesaus.nl (that I bought recently)

The only place I can see my new domain is at "domain pointers" where I can only redirect to the main domain logos-vertalingen.nl as you can see on the picture here:

What I want is the domain "chocoladesaus.nl" to use the bandwidth etc. that I have at my logos-vertalingen domain.

Ok.... I know what the problem is...

I have to pay for a new account + domain. It's not permitted to use 2 domains on one account. They can only link to the same index page.



So it seems I can not do what I was used to do on my other websites (bought elsewhere).

That's an issue between you and your hosting company. While DirectAdmin has a lot of flexibility, it's up to your hosting company to decide what to let you use; after all it's their server and their resources.
