Have an app I wish to migrate to a new server.
Running on plesk at present but want to transfer to directAdmin panel.
Looking for the easiest way, ie make a back up of current server and upload file via directAdmin.
Have no experience of directAdmin at present.
Thanks for any help, appreciated.

There are no Plesk -> DA conversion tools at the moment.
So probably the easiest way is to indeed create a backup of website and database (if present).
And then create the account in DA, upload the website, create a database and import the database backup.

Many thanks Richard G, your reply is very much appreciated.
If I do a full server backup, settings, database etc can this be uploaded to the new server via DA as one file or do I need to import the database separately? Sorry to trouble you further.

No that is certainly not possible. The web and the database need to be imported seperately.
I don't know what you exactly mean by "full server backup" and "settings", but things like apache settings, e-mail settings etc. can't be just be done in one file. DA has it's own server settings.
Email can be transferred by creating the e-mail accounts first and then use something like imapsync to transfer e-mail.

Sorry to trouble you further.
No problem, it's no trouble. That's where the forum is for. ;)

Sorry for the late response, many thanks Richard G.
In the end I used plesk to migrate two sites. All went well with that.
Now I want to remove plesk and install DA in it's place.
Only problem is can DA be installed with two sites currently on the server?
Any thoughts on that on would be helpful and very appreciated.
I'm a pain, I know, sorry!!

Short answer: no.

Again short answer: no.
No really you're not. Forums are ment to help people, what else are they for? And you also have decent questions.

Anyway, would it be possible to have those sites moved to another place for a short time?

Another solution would be to inform the customers about your issue, create a backup like you did for the other accounts.
Then reinstall the server (best is to format it and put OS on it again) and install DA.
Then restore the backup into DA on newly created DA accounts.

I don't kow what your options and possibility's are with backupping, reinstalling server etc. in a certain time setup.
Otherwise in theory, if you could stay up a bit late, then you could start backupping like at 23.00 hours, then do everything which is needed (formatting, reinstalling OS, install DA, configure DA, restore account) and with a bit of luck have everything running at 03.00 again.

Or even sooner, depending on how fast the server is, resources present, if everything works flawlessly. But it is possible. I've done complete server transfers this way.
