I am unable to login via POP to a specific email account on directadmin. I can login to webmail correctly.

Using the following settings:

Incoming server:
mail.domain.com
Port 995

Outgoing server
mail.domain.com
Port 587

The SSL certificate is installed and correctly configured.

Which log files or commands should I run to get more information about the error and find the cause of the problem?

watch exim logs first , do you have CSF installed? maybe your ip is blocked

/var/log/exim/rejectlog/
/var/log/exim/mainlog

I checked the following logs but saw no mention of my login attempt.

My ip is on the CSF white list.

If your ip was blocked you probably wouldn't be able to use webmail either.

Since you can't detect a login attempt, check if port 995 is open on CSF.

Next to that, try connecting at port 110 (default non-ssl incoming mail) to see if that does work.

The 995 door is open as it appears to be working with other accounts perfectly access.

Which ports on the incoming and outgoing server should I place? 110 and 25? (Non-SSL connection).

Leave the outgoing server to 587 that should not be a problem, also when plain pass is used.
Just change incoming to port 110 and see if you are able to make a connection. An attempt should be visible in the logs.

Also check your own system/pc firewall that you are able to make connections on those ports.

Problem has been solved.

As it was the main account I needed to log in with only the username instead of username + email.

Ooooh.... that one. Oke, I don't see that question much lately because they fixed this on new installs so there is no confusion about it anymore.
It was only when using the main system account as mail address.
there it says beta. But I thought I've read somewhere this is a new default now.
