I got the issue in DNS and i dont know how to solve, could you anyone help me?

In my DirectAdmin kep on i am getting a system message with the subject following

"This is e-mail notification to warn you that your hostname is setup improperly on your system."

"lsn-d1698.serverdomain.com, resolves to 127.0.0.1. Please make sure that your hostname resolves to your server ip (myserverip) or else your email may not work correctly.

Solution:

Create an A record for your hostname (lsn-d1698.serverdomain.com) in your DNS control panel. Point the hostname to your server's main IP address. Also check /etc/hosts to ensure that the server ip is correctly set."



i am nobiwe in linux server so could you please tell me what do i have to do to solve the issue?

can you give me step by steapguide and command that i ned to use.

this is really urgent so please help me.

Do you know how to open and edit the /etc/hosts file? If not then you need to hire an administrator to help you or start learning linux on a home network.

Actually adding the domain name to /etc/hosts may or may not keep the error message from recurring, but it won't solve the underlying problem.

First of all you should probably change the hostname do a something on one of your domain names; lsn-d1698.serverdomain.com is too generic appearing; mail from that hostname is likely to be disallowed as spam by a lot of servers.

Once you've chosen a hostname based on one of your domain names (search the DirectAdmin knowledgebase for information) set it up in DirectAdmin, and then create an A record for it (pointing to your main IP#) wherever you host that zone file for that domain name.
