I want to disable the SSH service on DA and prevent it from automatically re-enabling.

Change the SSH port and still have it enabled?.......... You say, it might slow down the server with attacking attempts.

If that's so, you might as well turn off all services....... All services get attacked.
 
Sorry, I'm busy fixing website errors.
I see in Brute Force Monitor I have 2 errors like this.
[email protected] logs error 15 from IP 74.208.112.57 and [email protected] logs error 1 from IP 95.211.195.186.
I have blocked and deleted the port.
turned off ssh and devecot.
Not sure what will happen in the future.
Will there be another attack?
 
Every server get's attacked that is why you have a firewall and brute force monitor. It is just telling you that he has blocked the ip's. You can tweak the settings to have a really strict blocking.

Dovecot turned off? So no mail on this server?
