I want to set up email accounts using IMAP. I have tried this but I cannot receive emails other than through webmail. I use Apple Mail but I don't see why that should matter.

Can anyone help please?

Webmail uses IMAP. Therefore your problem lies with setting up Apple Mail on your computer. I assume Apple Mail is a client you run on your own computer.

It could also be a firewall issue.

@Floyd:

you may be oversimplifying... if webmail is pointing UebiMiau (if I recall, this is the default), it reads email through POP3.

A better test for user msites would be to test squirrelmail, which uses IMAP. If that works, then the problem is most likely with Apple Mail.

@msites:

Your posts made no sense attached to a previous thread about another issue. I've made it into a new thread.

If squirrelmail works but Apple Mail doesn't work with IMAP, then you should check your server to make sure that your IMAP daemon is running, and that you haven't blocked it by accident with a firewall setting.

If it's not your server, you need to check with your hosting company.

Thanks, Floyd. Unless I'm missing something we still don't know if the original poster is on a server for which webmail calls uebimiau or not.

Jeff

After all the warnings we have had if uebimiau is still being used then he has a far worse problem than whether IMAP is working or not.

But for that matter we don't even know if he is using DirectAdmin. It was his only post and he has not been back.
