Installing PHP5 - Cannot find OpenSSL's <evp.h>

Like in topic...
When I try to insatll PHP5 error:
Cannot find OpenSSL's <evp.h> occurs :(
I have the newest openssl installed and compiled... I also tried to configure php5 using path to openssl... no luck :(

Anyone have any ideas what to do? :(

Manually... I found a nice tutorial on how to make php5 working as a CGI script.
The only thing is that configure stops at this point with tha evp.h :(
 
help - let me know how you got openssl to work

Hi,

I saw your phpinfo(), you have enabled openssl with the .configure option. Can you guide me?

I have openssl 0.9.7a on my system, and the evp.h file is located in the /usr/include/openssl but when I try to ./configure php with the --with-openssl=/usr/include/openssl it gives me an error saying that it could not find evp.h.

not one to normally resurrect really old threads, but this thread comes up near the top in google for this error message, so it's useful for it to have a valid answer.

on ubuntu, at the very least, apt-get install libssl-dev. then re-run ./build php n

problem solved.
 
Signed up for this forum just to post this because this has been a pain in my side every time I have to compile PHP on rackspace cloud server and I can never remember how get past this.

The above didn't work for me. I already have libssl-dev installed and ./build is a directory, so I'm not sure what he's saying to do here.

Anyway, what did work for me was installing libcurl4-openssl-dev

It looks like this bug has existed for years, but the developers refuse to admit it exists. I compiled nginx just before this and it has no problem finding openssl.
