Is it necessary to install firewalld to CentOs?

Hi, I wonder if it is necessary to install Firewalld to CentOs? Because I can read on some website, to be able to use SMTP and open port 587 I need Firewalld to be installed, Is that true? Isn’t that possible to make this to work with Exim it self?

You can open ports manually, or with comfort GUI like CSF, or with iptaples - it's your choice.
