is it OK to run samba on a DA server?

I noticed the smdb and nmdb services are stopped. Is it OK to turn them on? Will it break anything?

smbd and nmbd are quite insecure and we don't even install them on our servers.

They're considered insecure enough to be unusable on a WAN such as the Internet.

Do really have a reason to share files / printers with MS Windows users?

Good point. I wanted to facilitate transferring files to the DA server behind the firewall, but I'll use another secure method.
