Mail problem: temporarily rejected after DATA

Hi,

I get this error in the Exim rejectlog and mainlog on all mail

"temporarily rejected after DATA"

I tried to stop spamassassin in case that was the problem, but it didn't helped.

Is there anyone who can help me out on this one :(

Well, could you please first give some logs to work with ?
/var/log/exim/mainlog & /var/log/exim/rejectlog should have some mentions of these e-mails.

Otherwise, I'm willing to take a look at your config, just send me an e-mail (yeah, that's ironic) to sebastian _at_ sebsoft.nl.
Last time I had this problem it was due to wrong conf & bad permissions, but logs are needed to be sure.

I have 'resolved' te problem by commenting the following line in /etc/exim.con:

acl_smtp_data = check_message

I know this isn't the right way to solve it, so here are some lines of my logs

Strange, usually it gives some more information (or it stores this information to another log file).
I've had some similair problems when my spamd wasn't running or clamd was acting up, but, at least on my servers, it gives back some more information in my mainlog.

Is there no mention of these problems in any of the following logs ?
/var/log/maillog
/var/log/messages

In my exim.conf, the check_message is an ACL that does a virus check.
I guess that if clamd wasn't running and exim would be a bit impatient, it would reject all messages that cannot be scanned eg. all messages as clamd isn't working.
But it should be in some of the logs, somewhere :D
 
This error could occur if the users account is over quota.

That would create a temporary error after data.

why should this tweak make such error ?

This can be just a pid/socket error with your clamd and clamav.
This can be you don't have the latest exim.pl and exim.conf (was changed by DA)
 
I had issues with some emails beeing rejected because of the spam score.
I just whitelisted the domains.

You choosed to block after certain score, so assume it.
This has nothing to do with the subject of this topic.
