I would like to create a mailinglist for a subdomain, but that seems to be impossible in DA.

The reasons for this, is that we only host the website for that customer. They host there own mail-server, so the MX records point to their server and not to my DA machine.

But now, they want to setup a mailinglist and it's not possible to do that on their own mail server. I thought to be clever to add a subdomein (mailing.domain.tld) to DA and set a MX record for that subdomain which point to my DA server, so I can send the mailinglist from the subdomain.

Unfortunately, when I go to the 'Create mailing list' part of the website, I only can create mailinglists for the 'main' domain. The sub-domain is not listed here.

Does anyone of you have an solution for this?

Thanks in advance.

In DirectAdmin a subdomain is simply a public path to a subdirectory inside the public_html directory. It doesn't have any other features.

If you need to set up a mailing list for a subdomain then you need to set up the subdomain in DA as if it were a full domain.

To do that you enter: sub.example.com when setting up a new domain.
