Hey, I have servers (old) and new ones.

I will install the latest Debian + 10 another license on the new server. After successful installs, I will migrate all tar.gz archives to another server.

How I can add additional IP into the server which will be like (IP from the old server). Maybe better migrate all data than change default IP (maybe someone had experience and can say what I will need to execute).

Question:
1. IP change
2. License change (will be old license IP).

1.) You already found it
2.) I'm afraid now with the new licensing system, you will need to get a temp license from DA. You might best mail them.

I'm in the same boat as you and searching forums for answer. For migrate license I found this https://forum.directadmin.com/threa...or-installs-setup-sh-and-getlicense-sh.65099/ where DA confirmed this

"The official method has always been to request a temp license, not to try and run two servers on one license."

but on second page https://forum.directadmin.com/threa...talls-setup-sh-and-getlicense-sh.65099/page-2 found this answer

"

Is it possible to delay the deactivate on old server for like a day? In case user need to migrate to another server, a day should be good enough. It should be better than to request you guys to give user a temp license which will take some time.

Under the new system this is no longer possible. It was discussed above how this was never an approved method to begin with -- in fact it violates the licensing agreement. If you need a solution that involves no wait time, you can always generate a 60-day trial license through our site. It is instant and requires no billing info."

So it seems we can use also trial license for migration purpose.

It will be good that DA confirms that.

I opened the ticket also but not clear answer about temp license or any other official migration method in case someone has lifetime external license, bought like few years ago.

DA -did- already confim that.

In both threads DA said you need a trial license.
The official method has always been to request a temp license, not to try and run two servers on one license. ?

How many confirmations do you need? Just get that trial license, put your stuff over, and if all is ready and running, change your license key to your own license key.

Hi Richard,

thanks for quick answer. I thought that temp license and trial license are different things; while you can ask for trial yourself automatically, temp license is something you got from DA support.

Now if these are same thing, migration is not a problem as you will have 60 days to finish migration.

Thanks again for clarification.

No they are the same. Trial also only works temporarily. Sorry for causing this confusion.

So you can indeed just apply for a trial license and use it to migrate.

After migration we lost connection for some hosts

R=lookuphost T=remote_smtp defer (110): Connection timed out

Check if for those domains, the nameservers are pointing to the correct ip's at their registrar.
Check if in DNS or MX records, something is pointing to old ip's.
Also check if rDNS/PTR record is set correctly.

It's hard to look and verify for us without domain names and ip's, so you have to check for yourself.

This simply is not true as well as this one statement form here https://forum.directadmin.com/threa...talls-setup-sh-and-getlicense-sh.65099/page-2

There is no possible to get temp / trial license for migration purposes especially if you have lifetime license, from within current account I cannot make trial license. So I tried to made another account as disscused here with almost same my data just changed email, and still have no emailed password for this new account. So this is not instant as well.

We will see, but I think they just want me to pay for new license and cancel after migration. It will be good that someone clear this forum off false information. Forum is good place to take info and as well don't bother support with unnecessary questions.

This simply is not true as well
This is true, you might have the wrong interpretation.

If you need a solution that involves no wait time, you can always generate a 60-day trial license through our site. It is instant and requires no billing info.
Which is exactly what does what I'm saying.

Also in post #12 of that thread:
The official method has always been to request a temp license, not to try and run two servers on one license. ?

So please don't spread misinformation unless you are not sure. If you can't create a trial license, just e-mail the sales department. The way I said is working.

And just has been verified by Active8.

Just used this method few weeks ago to migrate 1 server, I can assure you this is instant, trial license is provided immediately

It is not, info is correct
Thanks for the answer, please let me know did you make trial license from within your current account or just made new one?

For me create trial license doesn't work from with current account, I made new one and still not get email with password.

That might be another issue, maybe anti spam or something. If that is indeed not working as should be, then that is not a good thing.
Best is to take it up with DA and see why this goes wrong.
I never had issues mailing them to ask for a temp license, but a trial should be instantly as they say, but it could also be they have overseen something about generating a new account, or as said, maybe something went into spam.

Maybe try with a gmail account, or otherwise mail sales to ask what's wrong.

Thanks Richard,

making another fake account simply in my eyes is a bit shady. Cannot understand why there's no way to make trial license within my current account, that would be better as they will have control who make a lot of fake licenses and who used this for legitimate migration purposes and as well spent less time on ticketing for temp license.

Anyway support is the way to clarify this.

Agreed. It shouldn't be necessary indeed. I hope your not trying to create a trial license on the same ip, maybe that is causing the issue.
In fact as far as I know, you should be able to create a trial license in your existing account. So it's a question as to why this is not possible.

Maybe @Active8 can explain how he did this.

Or maybe @DirectAdmin Sales can explain what the issue could be here. Indeed support has to clarify this.

Ok I logged in existing account, then go to site while still logged in https://www.directadmin.com/pricing.php clicked on create trial and got this info

Error: You've already made a purchase. Trial licenses no longer available.

So I was cut on the first step didn't even have a chance to get to any form to fill other data.

I already prepared server, have new IP and install Almalinux 8.5 but waiting on temp license.

To make this clear I don't expect they install it for me as I already installed myself and never bother to ask support for anyhting. All knowledge got from this forum, that I must say is one of the better forum with many nice people willing to help.
