missing named db files

for a couple of my domains I am missing:

/var/named/domain.db

what can I do to recreate these?

Though it's an official guide, I cannot guarantee that it will work in your particular case, as you might need a special modification to feet your needs in case you're using customized templates for DNS zones.

I have no idea. Check server logs, they might give you a clue.

For only a few out of many domains, this seems like a bit of overkill; why not just recreate the domains through the DirectAdmin control panel?

Funny you would mention that! What I did, but forgot to post, was just that. I simply deleted them, and deleted the DNS records (if any were left) and restored. I found 2 that just didn't restore right. Turns out both have records that point to servers outside my control. A CNAME on one, and an A record on the other. Weird that DA can't deal with that. Fine. I simply recreated the records using the DA panel, and everything is happy again (regarding this issue).
