I get the following error on reverse dns records:

2003:09:22-20:32:46: Named::readDB: Can't open /var/named/109.74.216.in-addr.arpa.db for reading

Domain name rcords can be properly edited, and the above file has the same permissions as them.

Anyone seen this before? Could it be because it is a reverse record?

Thanks

Hello,

That's probably because it's a reverse IP lookup. The data is probably stored in a different file (reverse IP lookups are added manually). Have a look in the /etc/named.conf to see where the actual file is.

Thanks for the reply.

The reverse record is in the /var/named directory with the other dns records. It shows up on the edit dns page with the other records, but is the only one that can not be edited.

The permissions are as follows:
-rw-r--r-- 1 named named 527 Sep 22 15:47 109.74.216.in-addr.arpa
