Your post was moderated; I approved it after editing the Subject line to emphasize support for DirectAdmin; after all this is the DirectAdmin forum.

I tried your iPanel demo and got an error, though it appeared to run after that.

Do you save credit card information? If so, what are you doing for compliance with the new credit card industry rules coming up next year?

Hello Jeff,

From what i am aware of, unless something new has been released these are the requirements from the pci council which i will copy and paste below.

I do not see any specific requirement for software developers other then how the information is to be sent over the internet which since it's inception we have always encrypted the data thats sent to the merchant account.

As for storing the credit card information we already offer users 3 forms of encryption they can choose from all with there advantages and disadvantages and level of security.

If i am missing something please let me know and we will look into it and make any needed changes.

Build and Maintain a Secure Network

Requirement 1: Install and maintain a firewall configuration to protect cardholder data
Requirement 2: Do not use vendor-supplied defaults for system passwords and other security parameters

Protect Cardholder Data

Requirement 3: Protect stored cardholder data
Requirement 4: Encrypt transmission of cardholder data across open, public networks

Maintain a Vulnerability Management Program

Requirement 5: Use and regularly update anti-virus software
Requirement 6: Develop and maintain secure systems and applications

Implement Strong Access Control Measures

Requirement 7: Restrict access to cardholder data by business need-to-know
Requirement 8: Assign a unique ID to each person with computer access
Requirement 9: Restrict physical access to cardholder data

Regularly Monitor and Test Networks

Requirement 10: Track and monitor all access to network resources and cardholder data
Requirement 11: Regularly test security systems and processes

Maintain an Information Security Policy

Requirement 12: Maintain a policy that addresses information security

There have been anecdotal reports on this and other forums that Merchant account providers are already asking webhosting companies which shopping cart package they're using, and whether or not that package has been certified. The certification has been reported (again anecdotally) to cost upwards of thousands of dollars annually. Again anecdotally, the implication is that if your vendor isn't certified annually the merchant account provider will no longer accept you.

One of the two account providers we use is already charging a $75 annual fee to certify us, even though all they do is have me fill out a form in which I tell them that we only access them through their own portal and don't save anything.

My understanding is there are several levels of PCI/CISP compliance depending on how much business you do annually, and probably none of us fall into any but the level requiring the least to comply, but if the Merchant Account companies start looking at the total business of the shopping cart rather than of the individual company using the cart, then even we small companies may have a problem and an expensive compliance path.

Most of the information I can find on the net is from shopping-cart companies who are certified, and which is self-serving.

I have no idea of the real importance of qualfication and certification; you're the specialist and I leave that up to you.
