New Log Retention Requirements for USA-based hosters?

The U.S. legislature may soon pass the Protect IP Act, also known as PIPA, which would among other requirements, require that U.S. based hosting companies be forced to keep logs for 18 months,and give them up to Homeland Security on demand.

While I'm not as bearish on the future of the entire U.S. hosting industry as the people who've created a site at SaveHosting.org (savehosting.org), I believe it's important that we, at the very least, make our feelings known to our legislators, and prepare to be able to store 18 months of logs should we be required to do so.

Make no mistake about it, I'm not trying to be fear-mongering here, only to advise those of us who don't follow the media as much as I do.
