New Reseller & IP Assignments

Setting up my second DA server. I remember fighting this issue on my first and I can't remember how I overcame it.

I have seven IP's counting my server IP. For organization purposes, I do not want any resellers/users on the server IP.

I have all of my IP's entered in the IP manager and all show free, except for the one assigned to the server.

When I try to create a reseller, the only option that I can get to work is to open up the reseller package, set the personal DNS's to none, and then proceed to create the user with the server's shared IP.

I always get this message:

"You have not given the reseller any IP's. Unable to create an assigned IP domain or any nameservers without any"

What frustrates me, is I can't create a reseller without assigning an IP or IP's and I can't assign an IP or IP's without creating a reseller.

What am I missing?

Ok, I got this figured out. I had set the # of IP's in the reseller package to 0. Once I set this to 6, I could create the reseller with the desired IPs.

I wish there was a better way to assign IP's.

I am struggling with the same issue. I think the IP assignment system is very confusing.

I'd like the server IP to remain private (mainly so I can secure it and run some admin stuff on that IP only)

I'd like the other IPs to be assigned to a single reseller for SSL-required domains. (this "reseller" is my account).

Then I'd like a globally shared IP that all resellers can create domains on. I do not want to assign each reseller their own dedicated IP that they host shared sites on whan a single IP for the server will do. I am beginning to understand that the 'server IP' is the one for this, but its not made very clear at all. Especialy when you consider you can assign a reseller the 'server' IP using the dropdown box, but then what do you do with the 'Can use Server IP' option?

Also, when creating a new reseller and not giving him an IP, you get the error with no obvious way to assign one to him. I'd love DA to take a look at this system and make it a bit more user-friendly.

Is there a way to pass this? I have 2 ips:
1 shared server
2 shared admin

I would like to use the server ip for my own. And the shared admin ip for resellers and users only.

Is there a way around to add resellers on the 2nd ip? Instead of the server ip

Thanks for the help.

I am looking for the same thing (I think ;) )

I would like to have two (or more) resellers on one shared IP, which is not the server IP.

At this moment I can only have one reseller per IP (with the knowledge that I have).

Ex.
Code:
IP Status Reseller User(s)
84.149.87.146	server	admin	5
84.149.87.147	shared	harro	3

So I'd like to have a second reseller share the second IP with me :-P

To answer the question at the start of this thread about how to assign shared IP's to one reseller, this is what John sent me a while ago and it made things a lot clearer for me! :)

You can set multiple ips to be shared if you like.

Assuming "admin" will be creating all of the Users (you can split up the ips to multiple resellers if you want though, but just as an example)

Admin Level -> IP Manager. Select all IP's, select "admin" in the dropdown, click "Assign To". admin's Reseller Level now has control over the IPs.

Reseller Level (as admin still) -> IP Assignment -> select the IP's, click "Share Selected".

The IP's are now ready to be used. You'll be able to put multiple users on each IP.
;)

Hmm... I was a bit too fast this time, to ask questions.

I found a 'hack' on the forum how to add multiple resellers to one IP. It doesn't use the DA control panel, though. So if there is a solution that does use the CP, I'd really like to know!

The link to the thread on how to assign several resellers to one (not server) shared IP:

<a little later in time>

I also found out that it is possible to do through the CP! Well you can change the IP for a user (and that user can also be reseller). The info is in this thread:
