Hello sirs,

Please advise if DirectAdmin can be used for this scenario:

1) I want to provide only email hosting:

I just need a simple interface where a user can login, create email IDs, etc and logout. Ofcourse users would be able to check their emails via webmail.
Does DA have options to enable / disable certain parts of the GUI.... or rather customize the GUI to show some parts and hide others?...as per enduser requirements?

Hello.

E-mail only accounts are possible. Parts of DA can be disabled. But you can also customize the reseller template.

Have al ook at this thread:

Dear sir,

Could you please help clarify, as far as what "accounts" in DA mean or is applicable to?

1) This is the setup Im thinking about:

First account is global admin account, ok.

2) 2nd account is for a customerABC.
CustomerABC uses the account to create/manage emailIDs for users in ABC organization. For example, ABC organization has 10emailIDs

3) 3rd account is for customerDDD
CustomerDDD uses the account to create/manage emailIDs for users in DDD organization. For example, DDD organization has 20emailIDs

4) 4th account is for customerMMM
CustomerMMM uses the account to create/manage emailIDs for users in MMM organization. For example, MMM organization has 30emailIDs

5) 5th account is for customerBBB
6) 6th account is for customerKKK
7) 7th account is for customerPPP
8) 8th account is for customerYYY
9) 9th account is for customerWWW
10) 10th account is for customerZZZ

Note: members of each organization should have webmail access. Every other technical responsibility for each account is done by the admin. We are not interested in reseller accounts, etc

questions:
1) Is the above setup achievable?

2) In my above example, how many accounts do I have? 10(ten)? or am I supposed to add the individual accounts of the emailID end-users?
I mean, like customerABC = 11accounts; customerDDD=21accounts, etc....

3) If I start with the personal plus and I need a third account after 3months, can I upgrade immediately by paying $15 on the third month?

4) How do you count licenses? can licenses be muti-server (master-slave)?

For example: if with a LITE package of 10-accounts, I have server-A with 5-accounts used, but due to an almost exhausted RAM/HD space on server-A, I want to add a new server, lets say server-B, can I continue with the 6th-account/license on server-B or do I have to get a separate license package for server-B.

5) I want each of my customers domain names to have a dedicated IP for their email services.....thus if I have 3-customers, I want each to have a separate IP. Lets say the IP of my server is /29, meaning, I can have (6-usable) 5-assignable IPs. How does this work with DirectAdmin?

An account is a Directadmin user account, which is a username with the password beloning to it. Each account (and yes admin is also an account) can have 1 or multiple domains, depending on how you setup your packages and which license is used.

You can create packages with things you do and don't want or limit certain things. Earch account can be appointed to a package.

Please don't call email addresses an account, because it's not. You call them email ID's, just call them email addresses, it's easier.

Answers:
1.) As far as I can see yes that is achievable, depending on the license.

2.) The amount of account you have depends on the DA license you are using.
Each account can have multiple e-mail addresses. Every e-mail address has access to it's own mail via webmail too.

3.) You can't achieve what you want with a personal plus license, as this only supports 2 accounts being admin and 1 other.
So then you don't have what you mentioned in 2, 3 and 4 as for this seperate accounts are needed.
As far as I can see it, you need 10 accounts or 9 accounts and also use admin for 1 of the options you need.
As far as I know, you can upgrade instantly, but I don't know if it's effective immediately or takes a day or 2.

4.) Licenses are counte per server. Each server needs it's own license. You can however very in licenses. For a DNS only server, you could use a personal license if I'm not mistaken. But as you see, that's a seperate license too.
It's not like you can use 1 license with master and slave. Both the master and the slave need their own license. So yes, for server B you would need a new license. Or you should get a new server and transfer all accounts the new server with more resources and then use 1 license again.
You can temporarily take a license to be able to transfer accounts.

5.) There are options when creating users to assign ip's to them. However it can make working with mail a bit more difficult since Exim also has to use multiple ip's then I guess. That might require slight customisation. I don't have that in use.
So maybe somebody else can help you with that question.
