Newbie Admin needs DNS coaching

Before I make any moves I'd like to verify a few things I've learned from this forum not covered at site-helper.com. I'm familiar with setting up name servers through the Reseller panel, never had problems with that. But I'm new to the Admin panel, late on delivery, and would like to get it right the first attempt.

I'm confident I'd get it right first try the usual way -- create a domain, select it for name servers. I'd rather not allocate host space just for name servers. I'd appreciate it if anybody cares to verify the following steps I'm about to take (Quotes = paraphrasing from various threads):

1 - Register NS and IPs at the registrar

2A - "Admin panel/DNS Admin/add DNS record for the NS domain..."

2B - Skip reverse lookup

3 - "... add whatever records you need."

4 - Create a site, assign the above name servers, wait for it to resolve.

Is this all? Since these steps bypass the usual step of selecting a domain from the drop-down in the Reseller panel, do the IP/Nameserver server fields remain empty in Reseller/Nameserver page?

What about the Reseller/Nameserver fields for NS1 and NS2 below the IP table -- skip this too?

Will adding the DNS record in step 3 add the appropriate NS and A records?

The default name servers use the IP owned by the server for NS and A records. Do I leave these records alone or delete them? (site-helper says first step is delete the old name servers.)

Sorry, after studying this topic here I realize how repetitive this must be.

Thanks to anybody who can help me from myself.
