Hi all.
I use Roundcube webmail for email. Forwarders work, but the Autoresponder and Vacation Message do not send!

I can send and receive emails; there is no problem.

I would appreciate it if you can help me eliminate the problem.

Best

Hello Faramarz,

Did you set Autoresponder and Vacation Message in RoundCube interface? Or DirectAdmin interface?

The most possible reason is failed rDNS, DMARC, SPF, DKIM either for a domain or hostname.

Forwarders work, but the Autoresponder and Vacation Message do not send!

Hi. Thank you for your reply.
I set both in Roundcube and Directadmin, but it did not work.
rDNS has an error: Reverse DNS does not match SMTP Banner!
I am doing my best to adjust it.
If you would give me a hand, I appreciate it.

It is my pleasure to serve you. If you need a private assistance you are welcome to place an order on my site. If you want a free help, then feel free to ask questions here on the forums. Me or other guys will help you.

The phrase "did not work" does not bring any clarification at all. An issue in your case might happen on 3 sides at least:

1. receiving side - your server did not receive an incoming email
2. sending side - your server received an email but it failed to send autoreplies/forwarders
3. remote server receiving side - your server received an email and replied, but a destination server rejected such an email or moved it to a Junk/Spam folder.

We here don't know which step failed. So you will need to identify which step failed on your own or hire somebody for it.

If you want to troubleshoot it by yourself, then you will need to read mail logs for evidences of receiving and sending emails.

In the very first my reply I assumed the 1st and the 2nd steps are fine, and the issue occurs on the 3rd step. That's why I mentioned SPF, DKIM, rDNS, etc.

If you want us to give more help, we will need to test your forwarder/autoreply. But we might fail to receive a reply as well, and if this is the case we won't be able to help much. So again, one should start from reading logs.

Thank you for your guidance. I checked everything via https://mxtoolbox.com/ site. Even in the logs I get that the vacation messages are delivered but I do not find them either in the reciepients inbox or spam folder, thought, I have the log that they have been delivered!
The domain is hitopex.com

You need to know your hostname. If you don't have one (you don't have a proper one now), then set one. Because now it's pointing to a general kind of name which Hetzner uses.
After that, go to your Hetzner control panel and for your ip, point to the hostname you made for your server.

Here's a guide for a proper fqdn hostname:

The domain is hitopex.com

rDNS is still wrong. It should be changed in Hetzner's dashboard.

Bash:
# host hitopex.com
hitopex.com has address 65.109.178.86
hitopex.com mail is handled by 10 mail.hitopex.com.

# host mail.hitopex.com.
mail.hitopex.com has address 65.109.178.86

# host 65.109.178.86
86.178.109.65.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer static.86.178.109.65.clients.your-server.de.

Please do -not- use mail.hitopex.com also as hostname because changes are high you run into troubles later. You can keep the MX record like it's now ofcourse.
Check the manual I posted and like stated, set a proper fqdn hostname and then change in Hetzner's panel.

Thank you. Can you help me find out what should be rDNS?
