Only virtual mailusers

Hi,

I'm currently migrating from Plesk to DirectAdmin.
I've installed horde webmail so that my clients won't have to get used to a new webmail program.

One problem I'm having is the user / virtual mailbox thing.
DirectAdmin automatically makes a mailbox for the user, which is not a virtual one. to login in horde, it doesn't need the @domain part. The virtual mailboxes do however need that part. Now I can configure horde to automatically add the @domain part, but then the real mailboxes can't login anymore.

Having two types of systems is confusing to my clients, so I'd rather only use the virtual mailboxes. How can I get rid of the real user mailboxes?

There's one real (read: linux) user per site-owner and/or reseller and/or admin.

And you cannot get rid of them because doing so will delete the site for that particular user.

When you can do is set up a post create shell script that will automatically create another (virtual) user, and set up a forward for that user to the user you've just created.

Then you can change your welcome email to explain that the login username is not to be used for email.

If that's too confusing, then just tell your users in your welcome email that they can't read their site login username email with Horde but that they'll have to use something else.

Don't forget that you're addressing only one part of the issue; your clients using Outlook, OE, or some other local client will still have to use [email protected] as their login.
