PDA problem

That's nice if they can store the msg's on the server but they're using the handhelds in a different way here and they want to POP.

I did what you did for a while but the mail on the server was more than they wanted.

You're kind of saying my primary car is broken, don't worry about fixing it drive your spare. :)

Hello,

which version of vm-pop3d are you running?
I recall submitting a fix to the developers of vm-pop3d quite some time ago because they did a single "read" for the whole command sent by the client (PDA).. this didn't work for PDA because they sent the command one character at a time. The fix was to do multiple reads until a full command is received.

I can't recall exactly which version that made it into, but 1.1.7f definately has it. If you have 1.1.6, try this:
http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=88
(or use the rpm/src.rpm from files.directadmin.com/services)

Alternatively, move to dovecot:
http://www.directadmin.com/features.php?id=590

I have version 1.1.7e of vm-pop3d.

Have you guys made dovecot "official" or is still beta?

Dovecot itself has proven itself, there are just a few minor touchups with DA before we make it official (this next release should address them). Once the fixes are out there and work, then we can make it official ;) (Basically just conversion hiccups)

So better wait? Can't afford problems on production servers.

If you can hold off until the 25th, yes ;)

I do have the "fixed" binaries avaible if you'd like them now (they just dont have all of the new features, unrelated to dovecot). Fire us an email if you'd like them.

Is dovecot official at this time??

Hello,

Any solution for downloading mail on a PDA using vmpop3d?

I just moved a domain i am using from an ensim server to my DA server and i cannot download my mail anymore.

I know that on my ensim server when logging in, to check my mail i got an error about POP3s but directly after this message the mail was checked normally and also downloaded.

Now on my DA server i see connection from PDA, user logging in and session closed no errors on the server but on the pda i get the same error as the others replyed above.

I know IMAP works but is there a fix for POP3?

Kind regards,

Martijn

Try converting to Dovecot, if not, then I think you need the latest version of vm-pop3d in order for certain PDA email clients to work. For example on the Palm, I know their Versamail has problems with certain email servers, but SnapperMail, I haven't found a server it couldn't get mail from.

*bump*

Same problem here, got Windows Mobile 5 on a Qtek 9100 and POP3 fails to work but Imap4 does work.

Any solutions available? My host is running vm-pop3-e, would upgrading to version f work?
