Permission problems

Hi,

a whole while ago I uploaded a website at DirectAdmin with - of course - different directories. Now that I want to replace the website I first want to delete the old files and directories. So I was told to delete the files first before I could delete the directories themselves. But if I do trie to delete a directory I'm getting the following message:

Unable to delete directory .../public_html/forum. The directory .../public_html/forum is not empty.

The directories are completely empty exept for the "../Up a level" folder. I'm logged in as admin (full user) so it doesn't seem logical to me i'm being denied to delete whatever i want . I really don't have any clue how to solve it so hope someone can help me !

It's doubtful you uploaded a website at DirectAdmin because DirectAdmin isn't a hosting company; it's a publisher of software for running webservers.

Do you own a server running DirectAdmin software? Or do you have a shell account with your hosting company? If so you should log in via ssh and check for invisible files and/or ownership problems.

If you don't, then you'll need to check with your hosting company.

Actually this is ftp software settings problem. Please check options and find somewhere "allow delete non empty folder" something like that. Or use filezilla ftp software.

You're right, of course, if the poster is using FTP. Somehow I got the impression he was using DA's File Manager.

And also, not all FTP software will allow the deletion of a non-empty directory.

Since the poster says the directory is empty, it's more likely an ownership problem. Or at least that's what it appears to be to me.
