problems using Squirrelmail with IMAP

I just updated IMAP using update.script and squirrelmail stopped working.

The IMAP server is reporting that plain text logins are disabled. Using CRAM-MD5 or DIGEST-MD5 authentication instead may work. Also, the use of TLS may allow SquirrelMail to login

I tried to change imap_auth_mech on squirrelmail config to CRAM-MD5/DIGEST-MD5 but squirrelmail still doesnt work:

IMAP server does not appear to support the authentication method selected. Please contact your system administrator

I tried to reinstall imap/squirrelmail, still the same.

Does someone know how to fix this problem?
