Maybe you need to set up quotas for your disk(s)...... but we can't exactly help if we can't see any errors, logs etc

but i get only a error with making a new user in directadmin.

en my quotas file is on my first post.

what do you need more?

thanks

Remove the user(s) then follow this Tutorial, then add the user again.

thanks for the link, but i have a few problems.

it seems i dont have a home volume.

[root@server1 etc]#df
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 25803068 1605456 22886892 7% /
none 65536 0 65536 0% /dev/shm
[root@server1 etc]#df -i
Filesystem Inodes IUsed IFree IUse% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 3276800 39429 3237371 2% /
none 16384 1 16383 1% /dev/shm

my fstab file is like this :
GNU nano 1.3.12 File: fstab

/dev/sda1 / ext3 defaults,usrquota,grpquota 1 1
none /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
/dev/sda2 none swap defaults 0 0

so i think that that is the problem.

what can i do

i run a centos 5.4 with directadmin on a vps.

a lot of thanks
(sorry for my crappy english)

You don't need a /home volume but you do need a /home directory. ls -l / will show you the top level directories.

Please clearly state the problem. Is the problem with quotas or with creating a new user? The two things are not necessarily related.

and the problem is with creating an new user.

what can i do more? or what do you want me to do that i can show?

many thanks

So you do have a /home directory.

What is the error when you try to create a new user?

So the user IS being created. The only problem you have is with the quotas. Either your operation system does not support quotas or you do not have quota installed.

Tell us what OS you have and also try to install quota. Is this a VPS?

This would have been useful information in your first post.

Contact your provider and verify what you have and tell them of the quota problem and see what they have to say.

but how can i install quota. i tried many thinks but i get it not done..
yum install guota dont work. and google ifind many pages but not one with how i can install it.

Sorry I missed it.

You want to use

If you get any errors post them. Just saying "dont work" doesn't help us a lot.

i get it installed via yum. why he did it not yesterday i dont now. but now is installed.

but now i get this mesage with creating a new user...
Error with system Quotas
setquota: Quota file not found or has wrong format. setquota: Not all specified mountpoints are using quota

so i do now that tutorial?

many many thanks ;-)

i think there is also a problem with the partitions. because i get this now.
[root@server1 /]#/usr/sbin/repquota /home
repquota: Mountpoint (or device) /home not found.
repquota: Not all specified mountpoints are using quota.

and with df this
[root@server1 /]#df
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 25803068 1607452 22884896 7% /
none 65536 0 65536 0% /dev/shm
so why i dont see the /home?

many thanks

Pay attention to the instructions:

Where /home is the quota_partition value set in the /usr/local/directadmin/conf/directadmin.conf file(eg, /home, / or /usr).

As noted earlier you do not have a /home partition. What does the directadmin.conf file say is the quota_partition?

Code:
grep quota_partition /usr/local/directadmin/conf/directadmin.conf

It probably says quota_partition=/ You would use / in place of /home.

Please pay attention to the instructions.

i am sorry or that, in directadmin.conf says /

but when i do
#/usr/sbin/repquota /
repquota: Quota file not found or has wrong format.

Floyd is right / is your partition, so you just use /....... but if your partition was mounted as /home, then you'd use /home......

I like to have just one partition for everything, then I don't have to worry about /var (logs & mysql stuff) getting full etc, much easier for maintenance
