We would like to get a CP and DA might be the one.

Currently we have a dedicated mail server
qmail+Vmailmgr+courier IMAP.

And there are around 150 domains and 500 email accounts.

Just like to know how easy it is to migrate our existing email accounts to DA w/o affecting their existing settings like passwd, aliases, autoreply, forwarders.

Or even better if we can run our existing email setup in DA.

Thanks.

You'd have to migrate manually.

DA cannot manage qmail. In fact it cannot manage Maildir format.

That said, and without wanting to get into the middle of a holy war, exim is at least a million times better than qmail.

If you like qmail check out Plesk or H-Sphere.

But you'll still most likely have to do the conversion by hand.

Don't like plesk purely bcos of their support, emailed them serveral times, but none was replied.

Called the sales line, the person can't speak english. :(

H-Sphere is too costly to us.

In fact from Maildir to mbox is not an issue to us, we have the conversion tool. The only worry is the passwd file.

Does it means we need to recreate all the mail accounts 1 by 1 and reset their password if we were to migrate to DA?

You'd have to recreate all the mailboxes.

You might be able to cut and paste passwords if DA and your current system use the same password coding.

But I think it would be easier just to give them passwords when you create the boxes.

I've always reached english speaking salesreps when I call Plesk. (I was a Plesk Gold Partner years ago.)
