Dear sir/madam,

I'm having to following problem at the moment:

With an SIDN nameserver check (http://www.sidn.nl/ace.php/c,727,778,4,0,,Nameserver_check.html) i get the following message:

** Summary: ACCEPTED domain1.nl.
** Full check report:
* primary name server "domain1.nl."
Info: name server looks correctly configured.
* secondary name server "ns1.domain2.nl."
Info: name server looks correctly configured.
#### success

No errors, so the nameservers should be okay to change to them.

When i try the SIDN DRS4 nameserver change tool:

I get the following error:

editing nameserver for domain: domain1.nl resolved in the following errors:

* 40055: Domain, Nameserver and Ip-addresses combination invalid

Someone knows what i can do about this?

Can i use a normal domain as a nameserver? Or is that only possible with subdomain?

Update:
Even the following check gives back that everything is okay:

http://dnscheck.je-eigen-domein.nl/
says:

Detected problems:
None

They may not be allowing the nameservers to be at the same IP#, or even on the same network. They may not be allowing a nameserver at a second-level domain name, but only at least at a third-level domain name.

ns1.example.com is a third level domain name because .com is first level, example.com is second level, and ns1.example.com is third level.

If you continue having problems you might want to search the net (as opposed to this forum) for answers, or ask the registrar that's not allowing the registration.

Okay, so i can't use a second level domain as an nameserver?

Too bad, i'll contact the registrar

(Both nameservers are in other networks/other ip's)

Hi,

I contacted the registrar, they told me that a second level domain should be possible as a nameserver. I had to try to change the nameserver by email.. and if that did not work to email all info to them.

I did email them now, but didn't get an answer yet, someone here with a possible solution?

Thanks in advance.

Only the registrar can tell you why they're not allowing the nameserver. Once they tell you, then you can fix whatever problem they say exists.
