On my never-ending quest to optimize my server, I found out about http://www.iagora.com/about/software/lingerd/.

However, to really take advantage of its features, they advice to run 2 web servers, one for dynamic content (php, mysql) and one for images (thttpd, boa or lighttpd). Is that even possible with DA?
I'd like to know ..

I believe this is possible but not without tremendous effort.
DA only works with 1 instance of Apache, so you will have to install the 2nd instance yourself.

You will have to figure out the way to count bandwidth usage of this manually installed webserver and to make sure images are served out by the correct webserver.

Unless you are running some very special application (or site), it will probably not worth the time, IMHO.
