i use thunderbird my problems is that i can receive e-mails but i can't send e-mail. Why?

There could be a number of reasons. Without the error message you get back we cannot tell you much.

The number one problem people experience is that their isp is blocking port 25 and in that case you have to change your outgoing port to 587 and use authentication.
