SMTP setup

Apologies if this seems to be a very basic question but what I need to know is whether we HAVE to set up a pop account for each domain if the user only requires an SMTP facility, or is there some way to just setup an SMTP for a domain?.

Or have I got this totally wrong? this is my first dedicated server and the learning curve is very steep.

Thanks

Unix and linux both create a pop account automatically for each user created on the server.

So you have to create it; you don't get a choice.

And DA will send email to it from time to time.

So if you don't want to read it on the server you should forward it somewhere off the server.

Don't forget to set up MX records for the domain so DA will deliver email for the domain off the server. Search these forums if necessary.
