Hey guys,

A customer of mine has emailed me twice today extremely worried about a certificate that he is being issued when he tries to access his email on his domian. Im was somewhat worried for a minute about this certificate (particularly because of a google search that said it was a virus of some sort from Israel...) but as I read in these forums I heard that it's normal if there is SSL on their site and no server certificate.
The reason I am confused now is because it is coming up when he tries to check his email, which shouldn't be using SSL of any sort. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I just installed dovecot last night.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
 
Alright then.... It's just strange to me because he has never had this happen before and I just happened to install dovecot lats night, so I figured that maybe it was because of dovecot somehow... IDK. Also, even after he installs the certificate he is still unable to check his email even if he did have SSL. Any more help/suggestions are appreciated to help my customer and myself get this taken care of.

The question isn't the cert(s) he sees, but rather what specific URL he's using when he sees them.

You, or we, can install a self-signed cert (which will use a less noxious message) or a commercial cert, so he won't get these.

What program is he running when he gets the error?

Is he using an email client, or is he trying to use webmail?

He is using an email client, I believe he told me he was using an open source linux based client, not exactly sure which one (my linux software familiarity is limited).
 
I use Linux ;).

Set up a mailbox for me, send me an email with the information, and tell me exactly what settings he uses, and I'll try to figure it out.
