Sorry i post this here.
We have a VPS at some Hosting company in Holland.

For the last few months sometimes short minutes sometimes longer half hour or more.

This is the Server / VPS is migrated to another Hoster that has take over the one where we had the VPS hosted before, before that no problems.

Slow not reachable server / vps sites and database connection time outs. ( few times per month, but to much and not before)

Nothing on the boX DA latest with config csf firewall and centos 7 changed.
Also the two internet providers here ( one fiber, one cable ) and our network here local not changed.

Also out of the control panel from hoster then the slow and time out vps command line ssh.

WINMTR normally not big problems , but if nu errors / slow that is normal.

Slow is for example building pictures in browser if it is matrix printer speed. ;)

We ask hoster what is wrong, no nothing wrong here are the answers every time.
So we have to go on your VPS.

What they did:
ICMP rate limit they turned that off completly
Our GEO ip blocked country's and some more they al cleared those out.

My view such firewall settings have nothing to do with being slow in http and https trafic, sometimes for shorter periodes. ( worked al before and no (over) load or errors in log files server)
Other traffic to same country out of our two connections don't have problems at those slow ( vps) connection.

Am i right?

What if lot of traffic from lot of different ip in short time periods, then the cc blocking with over 10 country's could that be a maincause ?
Slowing down, but where you can find such in which log files then?

Compare the specs of the server with the new hoster versus your old hoster.

The more ip addresses are blocked the more memory is needed, this could make the server slow.
Check if you have ipset. (yum info ipset, for centos)
Ipset can handle large lists of ip addresses.

Compare specs and maybe even beter, compare traceroutes (If you still have soms from the previous hoster). It the new hoster is migrating a lot of vm's to his own system, it's not that hard to believe they might have hit their own limits (overused storage, bandwidth limitations, hardware firewall's that are sometimes unable to handle all connections to all vm's together. Maybe it's a budgethoster running on cheap hardware. (sate, sas vs enterprise ssd's or whatever). Maybe the new hoster had flaky peers, is located in another country or is sometimes suffering from a ddos. There are a zillion possibilities why this can happen.

Thanks, and no is not cheap VPS , and only running our own sites, and some mail from clients, i am admin and so..

MTR traceroutes same when no problems is still in same datacentre and so on ( but yup the hypervisor Hoster say no probs with that), problem is that only few times per month 10 minutes or even half hour, so i must see it myself then otherwise can't see ..

Specs same uh no, specs should be little better while some more but not much.

The moment i detected myself then when ready to do tests , WINMTR / traceroute and so it was running ok i was to late then.

IPCONFIG CSF firewall, maybe more traffic from outside different ip's , not a overload / high load on server, but the blocked complet cc country's there then problem cause of beeing maybe slow and time outs. No errors on server..

How could you see such problem in logs files and where if this is the problem?

The default max ip , in block list itselfs is 2000 for over a year now.

I also think while new and old hoster are hmm same company and sharing data centre's , the are doing some fase out of old devices and one data centre, from the old hoster where i am custommer to with openstack i got those remarks for slow and time outs, thouh new hoster for the VPS ( but sofar i know datacentre nog changed,) say no can't be.

So i have to wait and be patient i guess tille verything is ready, also cc block country is now 0 ,

ONly want to know for next time if you can see in log if cc country blocks is problem for slow and time outs where to look after time outs.?

Grab something like Prometheus or install CloudLinux+ with their remote monitoring service so you can follow up on trends / spikes / ...
Without a proper view on what's happening, this is impossible to find out.

maybe you should turnoff " synflood " and" udpflood " then see result

I have problem with this option too when I run website with cloudflare, or else
Even add Ignore IP List, It still can't pass this

Thanks yes that is main difference before there was a monitor when hosting was under the old / name / hoster.

@jamgames2 i try if problem exists.

For the moment i don't know or it was because of services work from hosters on that location, or real traffic on vps orsomething else.

We haven't have this problem after 2 decembre. for now hope it stays away, no not the traffic real visitors i mean. ;)
