I purchased a Certificate today and it installed correctly

except it only works with the www
https://www.domain.com

take out the www and the certificate doesn't work
https://domain.com (snakeoil certificate and warnings appear)

Is this a setup issue with DA or an issue with the certificate company

Thanks

Kark,

I don't think that's what AussieGuy was referring to.

If you buy a cert for www.example.com and try to call the site as example.com it should still work, but give you an error and tell you the sitename doesn't match.

Aussieguy,

Did you set up the site as www.example.com, or as example.com ? Or did you actually set up two sites, one for example.com and one for www.example.com?

Also, did you use the same IP# for both?

Remember we can't help you test unless you tell us the name of the site. Why are you hiding it? Is it one of those rare sites that doesn't need all the publicity it can get :) ?

2 certs?

I just thought that the cert would work with and without the www. Now that I look at it more closely I see what's happening, is it possible to add a second certificate one without the www.
so both will be secured?

Cheaper than a wildcard to set up 2 certificates.

as for the domain name it's just a domain I used to set up the server , nothing really on it to promote.

Yes, but not easily with DA, as you'll have to set up two sites, and then change the custom site config file of one of the sites to point to the same directory structure as the other one.
