SSL Certificates

I searched around the forum, and there are enough problems out there with SSL certificates.

I found Entrust & GoDaddy offer a Multiple Domains / UCC type certificate.
Can anyone tell me if my vision on this is correct:

1 certificate can be used for many domainnames using only one single IP.

So when I fill in the domains @ my cert supplier, I receive a certificate. I add this to apache and all those domains are then "accepted" over https://

Anyone got some better deals for this kind of certificated?
I get around 100$ each for the first 3 domains.

The point of a certificate per IP and the domain is that Apache does not crash due to shared IP address. This I doubt that works.

That is, a domain must have its own IP address. You can not buy a certificate and use it more if I understood you correctly.

Problem on this machine is I only have a single IP for a lot of domains, so I need to cut in on SSL based IP´s.
