SSL Certs for IP Addresses Available Now

As I wanted to play with this yesterday, and explore it a little more @sysdev I bought a cheap domain for a few £ and spun up a vps (as illustrated above) set the hostname and put the IP cert on. Here's what the cert reports:

So, in effect if you needed to mix and match for whatever reason, you could.

I'm in UK and it was cheap. Served its purpose. I've stuck a renewal script in the cron and see if that works, and might put a "test works" page up and display a few of the cert details etc. Depends how bored I get this evening

It's a working example as is, and anyone is free to take what they will from the concept.

In that case I think Richard might have a laugh about 'Meuk", as it means 'Junk' in Dutch

Would be nice to blame someone else for something. I'm quite frankly appalled at getting blamed all the time by Mrs Wizzle, for supposedly always leaving the toilet seat up.

Firmware updates and ipmi is maybe a good example.

Yes in theory. I don't know what ipmi is but as for firmwares... you don't want to release those only for a week right? And mostly devices which need firmware updates are sold by a company which do already have a domain name.

Well... I guess I have to wait and see what it's going to be used for and if that is interesting in that case.

As for who's to blaim..... hmmz... normally we blame DA. Hard to do in this case. Let's blame @DrWizzle, he's the one starting this topic, so he's to blaim.

Hahaha yes I had a good laugh about the Meuk indeed.

A few years ago, I owned the domain ssl.org.uk but due to personal circumstances, and a sloppy registrar who didn't remind me via email (which would've saved it) I lost it when it expired and eventually dropped. Would've definitely looked a bit better in a demo like this
