Okay so here it goes, I am a litle confused on this situation I have currently, I will try and explain this to the best of my ability :)

Well, I had a customer that was joe jobbed and got him to move his domain off my server to an ISP until it settles down, the domain still exists on the server and has unticked "USE LOCAL
MAIL SERVER FOR MAIL" in his account and have changed the MX record to the ISP mail mx record, he has also completely changed the DNS servers on the domain so really there is no need to change this, as the domain is no longer hosted on my server but still exists on his account.

My problem is that since we have made this change, my customer used to have forwarding email addresses on the joe jobbed domain to another domain that I host for him on the same user account, so for example, you would send an email to [email protected] it would forward to an exisiting user on the other domain on his account with no issues..

Since we have moved the domain and changed the DNS to his ISP we are now getting issues with any email that used to be sent to email addresses he had setup in the "forwarders" option, all other email addresses are fine, the issue is only happening when sending emails to 3 particular email addresses that used to be setup in the Forwarders option, these forwards have been nuked and no longer exist but yet the problem still persists.

We are getting the follow error:

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
[email protected]
(expanded from: <[email protected]>)

----- Transcript of session follows -----
553 5.3.0 [email protected]... User unknown

the "User Unknown" address does exist on the server and is hosted on the same user account, if I sent an email directly to this address from anywhere it will get delieverd fine, this Error only appears to happen when you send an email to the user email address that used to exist in the Forwaders option on the joe jobbed domain that is no longer hosted with me.

Hope this makes sense and would appreciate any ideas on how to fix this, I have updated the exim.conf and exim.pl and still have the same problem.

Hope all this makes sence, if you have any questions please ask and I will try my hardest to explain this in words as its alot easier to discuss it.. :)

Thanks for taking the time to read this

Any Ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I understand your reticence to post real domain names.

I hope you understand my reticence to take time to guess something easily checked once the correct information is known.

Please do NOT send me any "real" information by either private message or email, as I'm happy to help freely on the forum, but otherwise I don't have time this week for consulting work.

:(

Perhaps someone else will be able to help.

Anyone?

Jeff

RESOLVED !!!

Hi jeff,

Thanks for the reply, I have come to a conclusion as to the problem I was experiencing, it was actually a Caching issue with the ISP as the domain that was joe jobbed used to be with that ISP and since changing back again they still had some old records, this has since been resolved and all is back to normal now :) mail is being delivered to my satisfation now !!!

Thanks for getting back to me tho..

Cheers
lexy
