subdomain error

This problem comes back often, but I cannot seem to find the solution:
I created a subdoamin in direct admin by only using the panel adding a dubdomain. I have created an index file also.
But, When I try to reach the subdomain as www.subdomain.domain.com
it cannot find the requested page.
when I type in www.domain.com/subdomain i have to add /index.html to see the page.

What is wrong?
I created it just 10 minutes ago so the DNS isn't updated yet.
But, with other subdomains I creatd befote like this they still do not work! and those were created months ago!

Please help me as i am getting so frustated with it!

this subdomain has been created months ago and still doesn not work

That's exactly what I mean.

Your domain is set up to use DNS services from easyserver.net, which is NOT the same server as is hosting your domain.

The DirectAdmin server can only manage DNS for your subdomain if it manages DNS for your domain. It isn't.

If you have your own DA server then you need to set up at least two nameserver IP#s, and register your own nameservers with the registrar where you registered your server's domain name.

If you buy webhosting from someone else besides easyserver.net, then you need to ask them which nameservers to use, and change your nameserver listings at your domain registrar.

If you buy webhosting from easyserver.net, you need to ask them to resolve the problem.

I have this same issue.

I tried created the sub-domain 2 ways, under the reseller interface of directadmin, and under the user interface.

Here is my problem:

http://ghosts.sonicnetworkz.com/ <<< don't work.

http://66.96.226.53/~ghosts/ << works

http://sonicnetworkz.com/ << works

Please tell me how i can make the sub domain work.

The same response applies to you. Your DNS for your subdomain isn't working.

sonicnetworkz.com is using these nameservers:

ns3.hostlimit.com
ns4.hostlimit.com

Are sonicnetworkz.com and ghosts.sonicnetworkz.com both hosted on the same server? If so, then you need to ask your hosting provider.

If not, then you need to either host them on the same server or add NS records for ghosts.sonicnetworkz.com pointing to the server where ghosts.sonicnetworkz.com is hosted.
