Does anyone know where I can get some free support portal software?

I just need something to pipe emails into a support website. Can't really afford esupport :)

One that comes to mind is Help Center Live. Help Center Live is a fully featured support system that includes FAQ management, a trouble ticket system, and live chat. You can find more information at http://www.helpcenterlive.com. Hope this helps.

Oh. I tried that one but thought it was only a live support like phplive. I will have to look at it more in depth.

Server Load

I'd be interested in any observation relative to server load with the various packages....I suspect the more knobs, lights and whistles they have, the more they toture the server.

Working out well?

Jeff

Yeah it works well. I am surprised it was free.

Only thing I wish it had was image verification on the forms. However if you go with eticket from http://eticket.sourceforge.net it has it. I just had problems getting the piping to work on eticket. They both are good programs though.

I am going to try and see if installatron can maybe add osticket to their installers. I know that the fantastico has it for cpanel.

Never be surprised that free software works/works well. After all, Apache, Sendmail, Exim, BIND, are all free :), as are Asterix and TrixBox (we use TrixBox for our telephone system, and in effect run our own telephone company, buying minutes and phone numbers from wholesalers).

I went to the SCALE 2008 Linux Expo last week; you wouldn't believe how much really great software is given away free.
