Other servers running this version are still working.. for now..

because on 1.647 licensing was corrected and current release 1.652

That doesn't explain why it does work on other servers running that same version, though

some incompatibility, usually upgrade solves, as DA recommends. Also you will receive fresh versions of other stuff.

I don't want to be forced by directadmin to upgrade the software when they want. Especially with the janky updates we have have in the past year. I update the service when I can and have prepped our systems for this.

Why is the service not working on 1 server out of hundreds of servers.

I'm getting tired of this tbh, its giving me a lot of extra work and most of the time something breaks..

Seriously,

why is there a directadmin/scripts/custom/ directory if a update from directadmin is CHANGING my custom scripts.... just stay off my scripts.

I'm with directadmin from 2009, it never changed custom scripts, I have few on each server - maybe server hacked?.
You may not update all software, you just receive possibility to update them, but I always update DA manually to "current" release in 10 days after they released it, usually it enough time to fix bugs from their side.
