Unable to login to admin area

Hi,

I have just installed DirectAdmin on my new server but I have no idea how to login to the admin area.

I have tried root and the server password but this does not work. Can someone please help me and advise how I login?

The username is admin
Check the /var/log/directadmin/install.log for password

There should be some lines like
Admin username:
Admin password:
Admin email:

I get permission denied using that command. Any other way to resolve this?

You should have seen your login credentials when the installation was finished, it's displayed.
I presume you use http://your.ip.here:2222 to login?

Try and check the credentials in this file:
/usr/local/directadmin/scripts/setup.txt

Yes, I do. I did not realise the login details would be provided after installation. This is the first time using DirectAdmin and I stupidly thought it would be similar to cPanel.
