upgrade user to reseller

I'd guess you'll need to contact your hosting company directly to do that. This board is for the Direct Admin software as opposed to your hosting company as it were.

with best regards,
Karn.

Yes, DirectAdmin includes a method for upgrading a user to a reseller. But since this post is under User Difficulties I'd agree that the original poster is a user, and needs to contact his hosting provider.

Hi,

After running the script from user to reseller and it works fire. Except ;)
The fact that, when i add a new user under reseller level he use the free IP adress we assigned to it's reseller. And instead of using a shared IP for all its users. We now need to give every user his own IP adress. And that is something we can't use.

Any solutions ?

@SeLLeRoNe well, good thinking, but that isn't the solution.
because in the IP Management there isn't the IP able to be freed.

but the reseller should have an ip assigned and use that ip for his own users... no?

maybe i missunderstood something... sorry

go as admin in admin level - ip management and choose an ip and assign it to the reseller, then log as reseller, go ip management and set the ip you will see there has shared.

I hope to get some advice as I have the same kind of problem...

I have asigned 2 IP's to the reseller (previous user) and also been to nameservers (in new reseller account) to add the resellers nameservers to the IP's. I also have put one of the IP's on shared.

You would think all is good now, if the new reseller now creates a hosting package and adds a user then this user will use the resellers IP and nameservers which is great. BUT all the domains that the new reseller has under his own user account are still using the main server IP.

When I select the reseller in my reseller list and click on modify I now have a new option available: "Change the User's IP" but here I can only see IP's that are assigned to admin and not the 2 IP's I have assigned to the reseller.

Is 2 IP's not enough for a reseller that wants its own 2 nameservers? Do those resellers need 3 IP's and do I have to assign an other IP to admin and then choose that IP from the "Change the User's IP"?

Or am I missing something? Any advice would be great :)

mmmh, u should have the choice of the ip to assign to the user also when u create the user... and, if you are logged as reseller you should see the two ip u choised and a list like this

IP 1 - Shared
IP 2 - Server IP / Or another voice i dont remember :D

If you select the IP it say is shared you should had any problem... but.. maybe is a bug from move a user to reseller, not sure about this.. maybe someone else should give more info

It seems to me your basic question is why can't the reseller use the ip's that have been assigned to him for his own user level domains.

He can but he just needs to create another user for himself to use. He cannot change his own settings. He can only change the settings of his users. Ip address is one of the user settings.

@floyd -> Does that mean that the reseller should not use his own user side but have to make a new user for himself?

The reseller has about 20 domains in his account and one of those domains is for the hosting.site hence also the nameservers ns1.hosting.site etc.
Do i need to delete this domain from the reseller its user account and then create a new one for this hosting site and its other domains?

If i understand it correct the user level for the reseller should not be used if the reseller wants to use his own ip's/nameservers. Instead the reseller should create a sepperate user account. The reseller does not has to have any domains under its user level.

complicated

The other option is that you can add another ip to your system and then use that in the reseller user settings.

On the other hand if it was just for nameserver use the reseller could have used any ip's that were on the system.

The nameserver ip's and the ip's the domains use do not necessarily have anything to do with each other.

ns1.example.com does not have to be the same ip as example.com
