URGENT: All sites offline

I wanted to switch to DA, but it seems that a few cents more are worth to stay with CP and get a peace of mind.

Thank you for letting us know in this thread.

Sorry for offtopic, but you know what, switching guys - me, completely incompetent (a while ago) with hosting control panels, though I have had some Unix knowledge, installed DA from the first try and it worked perfectly. I have no idea how you manage to screw it up and if it's actually a DA's fault.

I am switching from CP to DA... but I losing my faith on DA. Yesterday was working fine, and then at yesterday night from nothing just stop open the websites. I do not know if it was an O.S. update or DA update.

The reason why this happened doesn't help you. The fact is that somenthing like this can't happen on a shared server with xy customers. Also a CP license above 30 accounts is just fine because I don't think that $0.40/per account will bother me.

What OS do you using? Which is the most recommended for DA? I think if the OS is 100% compatible with DA and the installation of OS and DA has been done correctly, there shouldn't be any problem with running DA. But the OP says it happened from "self" in the night and this are "things" which happened to me years ago if I was trying Webmin, CentosPanel and such free CPs. Then x times switched here and there and finally decided to stay with CP... You have to count the time you are spending on fixig things as well - and this would be $xxx till now...

The domain (DNS entries) seem to be ok, but the ping doesn't respond:
Code:
PING siteselojas.com.br (192.111.154.130) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- siteselojas.com.br ping statistics ---
4 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 13038ms

What OS do you using?
Windows 95.

Which is the most recommended for DA?

Debian, Centos, or, as it goes without saying, CloudLinux. Also FreeBSD.

No, it happens to you first. If you are not sure what you are doing, just setup separate DA server and play with it, don't put your poor customers there at once, as they do not deserve to be used as experimental animals.

It might be good decision, but why are you so anxious then? DA is not Disneyland, but it has some gravity, doesn't it?

That DA..

You can hardly compare free things with Directadmin (or cPanel or Plesk by that matter). And I also read cPanel users who "suddenly" experienced things. Always users are saying they didn't do anything and afterwards it appeared they had made some (custom) changes. You can't rely on such statement.
There are a very lot of cPanel customers who moved to DA and most of them you don't hear complaining. So I would first read some experiences and wait what really was the cause of this, before making decisions based on a single user having an issue. Which is almost certain user error, named does not do things out of itself, same with the ssl redirect.

For example when I type http://myip:2222 will redirect to https://myserver.hostname:2222 and do not open DA. I only have ssh access.
Tried my tips on changing this and see if this helped being able to connect to DA?

I have access do DA now using IP.
I am trying to edit dns and shows:

Unable to save dns zone: named-checkzone returned:
loading "domain.tld" from "/var/named/domain.tld.db.temp.923" class "IN"
zone domain.tld/IN: NS 'ns2.domain.tld' has no address records (A or AAAA)
zone domain.tld/IN: not loaded due to errors.

I have edit here the domain to domain.tld.
Any idea what could be?

Yeah! The sites are opening....

Only the main domain of the server is not opening... it is odd.

Just to add... when I go to domain registrar to setup the ns1 and ns2 IPs for the main server account, it says timeout.
The DNS entries seems to be ok on server. But, when I go to website intodns.com and insert my domain shows at red:

SOA record, MX Records, WWW A Record and DNS servers responded

any idea?

Question: how to undo this, to not redirect to hostname and enter on DA using only http://serverIP:2222?
As I said before, remove the correspondig line from your directadmin.conf.

So go to /usr/local/directadmin/conf and open directadmin.conf.
Remove this line:
ssl_redirect_host your.hostname.com
save and closed the file, restart directadmin and you're done.

First have your directadmin and named running correct, before starting fixing nameserver issues. ;)
