HI all,

I have had to reinstall CentOs on my server, but before I did I backed up using the System Backup feature in the admin panel to a second drive, which I have mounted to the system as /backup2

I have reinstalled a fresh copy of centos and a fresh install of DA. I am using the same IP's as previously so this isnt an issue.

But on the second drive, i have a file dated 04-04-07 which is what I need to restore from, within that file I have the folders apache bind custom mysql.

My question is how do I go about restoring this backup? I cant remember the reseller usernames as it wasnt a planned reinstall. Can i read these somehow from the backups?

Cheers.

You really should have used the Admin Backup feature. But that is too late now.

You are going to have to open the backup file and start manually restoring stuff. There is no restore feature for System Backup.

The System backup feature works well for us. If we're restoring to a similarly configured server (same OS Distribution, same version), it's simply a matter of untarring each directory and file, and moving the contents to the new server/drive. If the server is a new install but a different OS Distribution then the contents of some files may have to be merged rather than copied.

But it can be done very quickly by an experienced admin. In fact in our experience more quickly than rebuilding all the resellerl-level packages and resellers.
