Using a Blowfish or SHA512, instead MD5

I changed the storage of password hashes in FreeBSD 8.4 with md5 on the Blowfish. When you create a new user or change their password - the password will still be stored in the hash of md5. How do I change this?

Usage of MD5 should be recognized as crime against humanity
P.S. Using SHA512 - only FreeBSD 9.1 and later
