Using GMail

Hi,

I have a slight issue that probably has an easy resolution, but I can't work it out...

For all of my domains, I use GMail - I also use Nettica to externally host my DNS.

I have sites hosted on my server that are setup in DirectAdmin that need to send emails to site email addresses (e.g. an online shop on example.com needs to send orders to the email address [email protected] through PHP)

How can I make sure that those order emails are sent externally to gmail rather than the server trying to send them internally to the domain, realising that the email account doesn't exist on the server and deleting them (postmaster trying to send a report back to that effect, but being unable to). ?

Thoughts would be much appreciated :)

Thanks,

Matt

I've answered this several times in the past month so you get the short version.

As admin you turn on DNS for all your resellers and domains.

The you log in as user for each of the domains, and click on MX Records and follow the instructions.

I thought the situation might be different because I use an externally hosted DNS service?

What I've done in the past (on another control panel system) is turned off both the DNS service and the Email service for the specific domain. Is that something I can do or will changing the MX records do what I want even though I'm externally hosting both DNS and EMail?

Thanks,

Matt

DirectAdmin allows you to turn off the email service. It does that by the checkbox on the MX Records
