I thought there used to be some documentation available about how to use the download option on the POP3 e-mail accounts page to download the .reg file and import it into Outlook and Outlook Express...Does anyone know where I can find instructions for this?

Thanks,
Denise

.reg files are windows registry files. Simply double clicking (executing) it should add the information downloaded to the windows registry regarding outlook. The next time you open outlook, it should notice that there is a new account and will probably ask you what you want to do with it.

I tested prior to posting on Outlook 2003 and what you said is correct....but on Outlook 2000 it didn't automatically recognize the registry entry and I am wonderingif there is something that I manually need to do...and if so, why not just add the new account manually, its not that hard.

Thanks....Denise

Outlook Settings

For those of you who have used the Outlook .reg option successfully, is everything TOTALLY automated or does the user need need to make further modifications before he can use Outlook? I am advising clients and I don't want to advise them unless I know exactly what to expect. I also would prefer not to try it on my own computer because it will change my own personal settings!

Old thread but I still have a revelant question about registry files...

Hi all,

I've found this old old thread whilst seaching for a solution :)

I've used the option in direct admin to download the windows .reg files so that I can use them in outlook 2007 and I know that outlook should be able to automatically recognize these files ( because I've tried before on previous attempts )

Now, I've just installed a fresh copy of office 2007 and I've opened up outlook and I've entered the .reg files in the windows registry, yet I'm still waiting for outlook to tell me that it has found these .reg files.

Its been 5 hours now and I'm still waiting.

Can anyone tell me if I can do this manually?
