Hi all,
I have a rather complicated setup. I run a mailserver at home, on an ADSL line. My domain (anoebis.be) uses zoneedit, because I need to update the mx record everytime I get a new IP address. This all works fine.
Now, I got a reseller account from a hosting company which uses Directadmin. I created a user for this same domain, "anoebis.be". In Zoneedit I updated the A record to point to this new server. The mx record stays the same. My website works, so I thought everything was ok like this. But it's not... When I try to send a mail from directadmin to [email protected], it never reaches my mailserver. I guess because DA uses its local dns server which does not know about zoneedit. Then I tried to put my zoneedit nameservers in DNS Management in DA instead of the nameservers that were already there, but it still does not work. My hosting company looked in the logfiles and thinks mail is being deleverd to one of the 2 zoneedit-nameservers, which obviously does not work.
I hope this all makes sense to you guys, because it's hard to explain in a foreign language
Feel free to ask more info, because I'm sure I forgot some important details. Basically, what needs to be done, is that DA (or that webserver in general) has to use zoneedit's nameservers instead of the local nameserver. I hope there is a way to make this work!
Thanks in advance!
