I have 160 Gig hard 2 partitions one of which I use for only backups

I get this warning even though I have just a few domains on this particular server

The problem it says is /Var folder

So what should I do now?????:confused:
 
Yes but it is a new server and I do not know what possibly should be deleted?:D
 
Anything you don't want.

But from reading your post it appears you may not be an accomplished system administrator.

Sure I could give you some ideas of where to look, but then I'd be flying blind. And I'd hate for your server to crash because I was flying blind.

You probably need to hire someone (perhaps even me) to look at your server for you and help you learn what to do in cases like this.

The quick and dirty way is to delete all the files in /var/log that end in one of these:

.1
.2
.3
.4

That at least won't break anything, though it will delete information which may be important to you in figuring out why your /var partition filled up so fast.

To list any large folders in /var try these two commands:

du -ah /var | grep -i '^[0-9]\{1,\}m' | sort -n
du -ah /var | grep -i '^[0-9]\{1,\}g' | sort -n

Personally I would delete /var/cache/logwatch/*

How big is your /var partition? I did not add up the amounts but it doesn't seem to be very big on first glance based on the file sizes and given that you say its full.

Please don't double-post. Those last three files are some mysql transaction files I mentioned in my response to your post in the other thread. You probably could delete at least the oldest, though you might want to learn more about what they do. Or move the oldest ones to your /home directory, which appears to have room. Note if you move the one that's currently in use, it won't really move until it's no longer used, and then MySQL will start a new one, so you'll have to restart MySQL.

Sorry about the "double post" I spotted this thread as well and thought that I would make a contribution to it based on what I was going through.

Anyhow with that being said I am moving the transaction files out of the /var/lib/mysql directory now and then as per your advice I will restart MySQL and keep my fingers crossed.
