I have a resellers account with about 7 domains 3 are listed under resellers level and the rest are on users level. About 4 of the site when visted dont open, ie ask if I want to download the index.html file. when I download the file and try to open it it goes to a windows page that gives me this info:

MIME Type: text/x-server-parsed-html

Description: UnKnown

Windows does not recognize this MIME type

one of the sites with the problem is www.classicgu.com

I tried replacing the index file and then the whole site so I can rule the files out.

Thank you in advance for any help.

the last date on the folders reads september 24 2010, I haven't made any changes to this site for months. and I'm the only one who would.

hi, i checked that even with firefox is not opening the website...

which kind of website is it?
Are you root of the server, or you have just the reseller power on Direct Admin?
I see that it go to open an index.html with an flash content that tell "you need to download an upgrade of your flash plugin" (when i've the latest version) ...

It means that (looks like) the apache is not properly configured.
Try to change the index file extension to another one, for example php ... Just to see what is going to happen...

well that helped (changed index.html to index.php) I may have found the issue, it looks like my server host moved my websites to another sever without telling me. I'm the reseller, i also own the domain names, create and manage the websites so to know when the namesever computer changes is a must. I looked and it is different than the one it is suppose to be on. I'm waiting to here back from them.

if I type in the address with index.html after the com/ it loads but still doesn't if the address ends with com/

I've looked at the html code; it appears to start a movie. My guess is that it's the movie that's triggering the failure to run; not the html. If this worked before on a different server, then you need to work with your hosting company.

is there an .htaccess file?

it open just on IE but not on Firefox ...

EDIT: i take a look too on the code, and is true what jeff told :) i was not able to check the html code before, because i was not able to open the page

this site has no flash swf file it is only html and gifs. www.sarahmcclung.com, it is one of the other four that wont load.

/domains/classigu.com/public_html/.htaccess reads:

AddType text/x-server-parsed-html .html
AddType application/x-httpd-cgi .cgi

mmm i'm continuing to think that there is a misconfiguration with your provider apache that doesn't read html as should, because if i understood correctly, if you are going to change the extension to .php or whatever else, the webserver is reading it the file, am i right?

If it is like this, so for sure is a misconfiguration, and you must take a look with your provider... (that sincerely after this issue, there are many things to speak about them, but ok ..)

Good night :-) if you need me, you can find me on PM and i'll answer you tomorrow morning without problems, if i'm been helpful enough :-)

well I deleted the htaccess file on all sites and they all work again, still wait on sever support ticket respone as to why this would happen on its own.
